"Together we can change the world, one piece of jewelry at a time."
I'm always so inspired by other women who follow their hearts and make their dreams a reality - and even more so when their dreams are to help others and the world. Ashleigh Becker of Sela Designs hand makes all of her modern, nature inspired jewelry in small batches out of her studio in Manitowoc, WI. She makes these every-day beauties out of natural fiber, metal and tagua nuts!NUTS you say?? Yes! Tagua nuts are lightweight (similar in consistency to ivory) and can be worked into any shape. The nuts that Ashleigh uses in her designs are all hand shaped and dyed by artisans in South Africa - eco-friendly, produced ethically and helping to provide income to local artisans!
The coolest part: 100%... yup, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the profit from Sela Designs is donated to charity! How amazing is that?! Ashleigh donates her time, talent and profits entirely to those in need. Talk about selfless, y'all.
Two of the organizations that Sela Designs supports on a monthly basis are the Ebenezer Grace Children's Home, which provides housing, food, education and more for orphans and vulnerable children, and the Life House: a local organization in Manitowoc that is home to the homeless, brokenhearted and those struggling to make a change.
I thought the Abigail earrings were beautiful online, but they're even better in person. They are SO lightweight, rich in color (neutral color, of course) and a great size... a statement earring I can actually get behind (considering I don't do them often!).
