Wedding Wednesday: Day-to-Night Bachelorette Makeup

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

I know I shouldn't be planning my own Bachelorette party, but if I did (and money was no option) I would take all of my girls to Vegas for a long-weekend getaway filled with shopping, brunching, pool parties and night life!

With event-filled days usually come wardrobe and makeup changes. You wouldn't wear the same thing to the mall that you would to the club, amiright? This rule applies to your makeup as well -  there's no need to wear waterproof mascara to brunch, but you totally want to wear it if you're hitting up a daytime pool party.

I've put together three easy makeup looks that will perfectly take you from your day activities to your nighttime celebrations - Vegas bachelorette party approved!

DAY
Start with clean, exfoliated skin and opt for an oil-free moisturizer - Vegas temps can get up there and if you're going to be outside, there's a good chance you might sweat glisten a little bit, so adding extra oil under your makeup won't help it last. I really love the SheaMoisture line of products and their African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Wash and Scrub is a great start to this makeup routine.  Next you want to prime your skin - I use Tarte's BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen. It's light and airy and really locks in your products. Once you apply your foundation and concealer, set it with a translucent powder, especially under your eyes, to prevent creasing. Then apply some bronzer and blush - just enough to contour your face and give you a little color. You can also fill in sparse areas in your brows now with a pencil or brow pomade. Apply a few coats of your favorite mascara to your top and bottom lashes and set your products with a 2-3 pumps of a fine mist setting spray - then you're done! This face is quick, easy and beautiful - perfect for shopping on the strip, museum touring or pool partying! Just make sure you opt for a waterproof mascara if you plan to take a swim!

DAY/NIGHT
This makeup look is an either/or option. It's soft enough if you're looking to go a little more glam, and it's perfect for an easy nighttime transition! Start with the above routine but add a little more bronzer, blush and mascara. Smudge a brown or black eye pencil along your top lash line and a little bit of a light, neutral taupe shadow in the crease of your eyelids. Then cut your favorite strip lashes to size and apply using tweezers - this will help you get them closer to your lash line. My faves are Ardell Glamour Wispies in black. I like to use a dark lash glue, like Duo Dark Tone Strip Lash Adhesive, because it acts as an extra layer of liner! Once you've sprayed a few more pumps of setting spray, you're ready for a bold lip. y'all know I LOVEE a good red lip - it just makes me feel so sassy! My all-time FAVE red shade is MAC Ruby WOO - it's the perfect cool-toned matte red (TIP: cool/blue tone shades will make your teeth look whiter! #WIN).

NIGHT
All hail the SMOKEY EYE!! It's just SO good for a night out. If I'm in the mood for a super sexy look, there's nothing quite like a bold smokey eye (other than a red lip!). You can achieve this look whether you chose to start with the first or second looks above. If you haven't done so already, add your extra bronzer, blush, and glue on your strip lashes. Apply a layer of a creme shadow close to your lash line and smudge upward toward your crease - I like to use MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork. Blend a darker shade of brown in your crease or corners and a lighter shade up towards your brow bone. Use a medium shade under your bottom lashes and work the color over towards the outer corner of your eye. Once it's all blended (BLENDED!!!) I like to add another quick layer of mascara, top and bottom, to cover any shadow that may have fallen on your lashes - this will ensure the ultimate smoke finish. Forego (or wipe off) the red lipstick and opt for a glossy nude color - or if you're feeling really sassy, pop on some bolder, thicker lashes, and hit the town!
